When Arizona turned blue to elect Joe Biden as President and Mark Kelly to the US Senate, Democrats in Tucson’s Legislative District 9 played an important role in the victory, according to Lori Cinnamond, LD9’s data team leader.

“Pima County crushed it,” said Felicia Rottelini, the outgoing Chair of the Arizona Democratic Party.

In fact, LD9 was among the top 4 districts in terms of Democratic turnout:

  1. LD23 had a 90.9% Democratic turnout (Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Rio Verde, the Fort McDowell Indian Community, and parts of Northeast Phoenix.)
  2. LD1 had a 90.5% Democratic turnout (most of Yavapai County, along with a small section of Maricopa County.)
  3. LD9 had a 90.4% Democratic turnout.
  4. LD22 also had a 90.4% Democratic turnout (Peoria, Sun City, Glendale, and Sunrise.)

Statewide, the Democratic turnout was 83.9% — up 6.2% from 2016.

Statewide Turnout by Party 2020
