Our LD9 Democratic Representative Dr. Randy Friese participated last week in a press conference webinar held by the Joint Arizona House & Senate Democratic Caucus with pleas to Governor Ducey to help Arizonans through the COVID crisis (see the video, below)

Friese and the other representatives asked the Governor to do three things:
- Mandate masks to save lives
- Assist public schools
- Release unemployment money to stimulate the economy.
You can do your part to support what Dr. Friese and the others proposed by asking Ducey to take a leadership role as Governor. See below for a sample letter to send to Ducey, along with contact info for the Governor. Modify the first paragraph so that it reflects your own stories and views.

Dear Governor Ducey,
This morning, I called my friend to check in on her and her mother, because they had been diagnosed with COVID. My friend is a nurse at a local Tucson nursing home and is now working from home. Since she is a strong woman, I was shocked to hear how weak her voice sounded on the phone. She said: ‘I am receiving over 70 calls a day from families, asking how their loved ones are doing.’ She also said: ‘22 of our residents have died of COVID’ and ‘people are visiting their loved ones without wearing a mask.’ Uncharacteristic of her, my friend is extremely exhausted and is upset over the fact that not enough is being done to slow Tucson’s COVID numbers.
Governor, it is time to listen to our medical professionals’ plea for help. Please accept Representative Dr. Friese’s invitation to visit Banner Hospital in Tucson, and witness first-hand the devastation health care workers are experiencing due to COVID-19. As your constituent, I am asking you to please help them so they can help us.
Second, because you are the Arizona Republican Party leader, I am asking you to work with state Democrats to ensure unemployment insurance for Arizonans is distributed immediately. This will stimulate our economy and help us.
Lastly, I am a teacher, mother, and grandmother of six, so I know the necessity for all children to be in school. I am asking you to provide funding to protect children, teachers, and staff so that those who are able can return to school. We have the knowledge and expertise to ensure all Arizona children are learning, one way or another, and help us.
Governor, leadership matters. Do the right thing for all of us, but especially for medical professionals who sacrifice so much. Do the right thing for children whose futures depend on it. Do the right thing for the unemployed who need to stay in their homes. This is doable if you and all Arizonans make one little sacrifice. Please help us and mandate that everyone wears masks.
