The 2018 annual LD9-LD 10 St. Patrick’s Day Fundraiser on Sunday, March 18, was the most successful in the event’s more than 10-year history.
Hosted by Margie and George Cunningham, and co-hosted by a large group of hard-working PCs from both LDs, the event drew more than 200 PCs, guests and candidates: local, state and federal.
Two hours after the event began, a line of guests still waited in the front yard for the chance to fill their plates with home-cooked corned beef – the best in town! – potatoes, cabbage and carrots, potato salad, coleslaw, Irish soda bread, homemade Irish mustard, relishes, and more.
The dessert table groaned under the weight of homemade cookies and brownies.
Irish whiskey, Guinness stout and other libations flowed freely.
Tucson City Councilman Paul Cunningham emceed a program featuring more than 30 candidates, who spoke for about two minutes each. The Keynote speaker, Democratic National Committee Vice-Chair, New York Congresswoman Grace Meng brought greetings and an update from DC.
Both LDs treasurers reported at each LD will take home about $2,200 from ticket sales. This money will be applied to the election of our amazing Democratic candidates in November.
The LD9 party committee wishes to thank everyone who contributed to this successful event. The primary reason this party is so successful is because members donate all services, food and supplies.
