Don’t believe Kermit, the Frog…It IS easy being green, and it’s fun, informative and yummy at the Annual LD 9/ LD 10 St. Patrick’s Day Party!
By Becky Schulman, LD9 Precinct 106 PC
Picture this – more than 60 pounds of corned beef, cooked and sliced by loving, Democratic-devoted hands mixed in with 4 large heads of cabbage and 10 pounds of potatoes; over 20 pounds of potato salad; at least 5 other kinds of salads—coleslaw, jello salad, greens, 3 bean, fruit salad made from assorted 20 pounds of fruit; chips and dips; 8 loaves of breads; 18 dozen home-made cookies and brownies; 8 12 packs each of beer and soda; wine, coffee, and lemonade and more!! And that’s just the food!
On Sunday, March 17, from 1 to 4 PM, at the annual St. Patrick’s Day Party sponsored by Legislative District 9 and 10 Democrats, you’ll have an opportunity to schmooze with like-minded friends and party workers. Guests will also hear from and meet candidates and elected officials.
Leafing through old datebooks unearthed reference to a St. Patrick’s Day Party on March 14, 1993 at the home of Janet and Frank Marcus. Back then, before several rounds of redistricting, we were District 13. A few years later, after we had become LD 28, the parties started to be chez Cunningham where they have been held since we became LD 9. In the “old” days LD 28 also included part of what is now LD 10; so we’ve been sharing our convivial event ever since.
Don’t miss enjoying this festive tradition at the home of George and Margie Cunningham, 630 North Alamo Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85711. Tickets are $20. in advance and $25. at the door. You can purchase your tickets at secure.actblue.com/donate/stpats910. We hope to see you there!
