What do you do with an empty Christmas popcorn tin?
I am sure there is a myriad of different uses, but I spied an old tin in my closet and had an “aha” moment. This tin is the perfect place to collect our Let’s Eat! Grand Raffle tickets before the drawing is held on July 26
[NOTE: The raffle will be held at the LD18 Monthly Meeting on Zoom].
These tickets are simply waiting for the moment they will be “shaken and stirred” before finding out who the lucky winners are.
It has been my pleasure to collect the restaurant gift cards from you, our generous LD18 members. As these cards have come in, their arrival has spurred my husband and me to try new places. We are creatures of habit and tend to go to nearby and familiar restaurants.
Like being in Paris
For example, I’d never heard of Ghini’s French Caffe before Jennifer Dawson donated a gift card to this fine Tucson establishment. We were curious to see how the croque-madame sandwich by the restaurant’s Marseille-born chef compared with our memory of the same sandwich we ate in Paris. I ended up having a salad, but my husband totally enjoyed the croque-madame and gave it a thumbs up.
Margo Newhouse had called me to pick up a gift card for Bai Thong, her favorite midtown restaurant. We love Thai food and didn’t waste any time scurrying over there to sample some of their dishes. We agreed that Bai Thong would be seeing us again!
Maria Hidalgo donated a card to Trattoria Pina. It is next on my list to visit– for their Italian classics. The restaurant also has gourmet pizza cooked in a wood-burning oven! Pizza is one of my absolute favorite foods, so I know that’s what I will be ordering there.
Tucson is filled with delightful dining establishments, ranging from those suited to a special night out (and the Grand Raffle features quite a few cards to these places) to ones with casual fare that the whole family will enjoy time and time again. I admit that checking out all these raffle prize eateries has been a tough job —but someone has to do it!
Do you remember Jennifer Garner’s commercial where she says, “What’s in your wallet?” Well, I hope one of these restaurant gift cards will end up in your wallet!
