LD9 PC and Volunteer Development Team
Thank you to the 100 LD9 PCs and volunteers – some of them snowbirds! – who attended one of the recent LD9 Winter Theme Kickoff meetings held at neighborhood libraries. The outreach themes this season are mail-in ballots – the Permanent Early Voting List (PEVL) – and voter registration. Our message is: “WE VOTE WE WIN.”
Participants saw a PowerPoint outlining the importance of early voting and the critical need for reaching out to some 16,000 LD9 Democrats who didn’t vote in the 2014 midterm elections. Statistics show that voters on the PEVL are more reliable voters than those who go to the polls.
Winter Theme events include postcard parties, group canvasses and voter outreach tied to the PEVL/registration message, which a new team is managing. At the end of these sessions, participants signed up for the activities that interested them. Organizers urged them to canvass in the west-county territories with traditionally low voter turnout.
