Our January Meeting Speakers

We’re starting off 2025 with a great slate of speakers who have been invited to let us know what we can do to help during this year’s legislative session.

• Priya Sundarashan, AZ State Senator and Minority Leader, LD18
• Nancy Gutierrez, AZ State Representative and Assistant Minority Leader, LD18
• Chris Mathis, AZ State Representative, LD18
• Civic Engagement Beyond Voting, a grassroots, nonpartisan organization working to empower Arizona residents to exercise their voices at state and local levels. We will discuss how to help our Legislators by using the Right To Speak.
• Mary Keerins, LD18 Data & Strategy Lead, will provide an Election 2024 Snapshot report.  More detailed reports will be included at the February meeting.

  • You must be nominated at the election by a State Committee member. State Committee members can also self-nominate. During the election, nominators will have 1 minute to introduce their nominee. Candidates will then have two 2 minutes to introduce themselves to the membership and explain why they are running for their position.
  • To learn more about these positions, please review the descriptions of the duties of officers in the ADP Bylaws. Candidates who have submitted bios and photos can be found on the Arizona Democratic Party website here.

Caucuses and Councils will host meetings in the morning before the plenary session begins. Please review the schedule below and join us for a session!

If you don’t see a caucus or council that fits your lived experience, or for any reason you believe one should be created, we’re more than happy to speak with you and learn how we can assist in this process. Please contact our Political Director, Jacob Raiford, at [email protected]

UPCOMING TikTok BAN

By Kim Bayne, Social Media Activist, LD18

I want to take a moment to address the upcoming TikTok ban and how it will affect LD18’s digital outreach. While we haven’t been very active on TikTok recently, we know it’s been an important tool for connecting with many of you—and I’ll admit, I’ll miss it on a personal level!

That said, LD18Dems remains committed to keeping you informed, engaged, and connected where it’s most convenient for you. You can still find us actively sharing updates, event announcements, and community news on Facebook and Instagram, and we’re excited about growing our presence on Threads as well.

As for X (formerly known as Twitter), we’ll be honest: we’ve essentially abandoned that platform. The exhausting atmosphere and increasing chaos have made it a dumpster fire not worth our energy or focus. We’re prioritizing platforms where meaningful conversations and connections can thrive.

We’re also exploring other platforms to figure out where our TikTok followers may have migrated. We’ll share those updates with you as soon as we know more. Rest assured, we’re not slowing down—we’re simply evolving with the times to ensure our message stays strong and accessible.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our shared mission. Together, we’ll keep making a difference!
