UPDATE FROM THE LD18DEMS RESISTANCE AND A CALL TO ACTION
LD18Dems started up our weekly Saturday protests in front of Juan Ciscomani’s office again on August 29, after a summer hiatus. We continue to be a force to reckon with. Anywhere from 60 to 100 protesters are showing up every Saturday morning despite the heat. The non-stop honking on Swan Road in support of our positions is a testament to the fact that the people in the vehicles going by consider themselves part of the protesting community!
Our Voter Outreach Tabling efforts are at a high right now, with over 45 volunteers in weekly shifts at public spaces across LD18. Just over the border in LD17, we are sharing the Bear Canyon Library tabling schedule with LD17 Democrats. And in consultation with LD20 Democrats, we now have four shifts at Woods Library, as well.
CALL TO ACTION
We will also partner with LD20 Democrats on Election Day. We’ll be donning our ELECTIONS MATTER t-shirts and fanning out to multiple Vote Centers, handing out PCDP voter/ballot guides to voters outside the 75-foot parameter. Volunteers will be paired up with a partner (or two) at one of the Vote Centers for two-hour shifts. We are currently in the process of selecting roughly 15 out of the 126 Pima County Vote Centers to target voter guide distribution. Please contact me at carolevans831@gmail.com if you are interested in taking a shift on Election Day to distribute voter guides or if you have any questions about this project.
Thanks to all of you who are resisting threats to Democracy as we know it. One act of resistance is to VOTE EARLY. Please remind your family & friends to vote early and complete both sides of their ballots. Use pimavote.com to make filling out your ballot a breeze!
