Gov. Hobbs invests $500,000 to flip the legislature

Gov. Hobbs Vetoes extremist bills from MAGA/Republican legislators.

Gov. Hobbs announced the start of her political operation with a $500,000 commitment to flipping the Arizona House and Senate in 2024. This unprecedented investment so early in the election cycle shows the governor’s commitment to securing a governing majority for the last two years of her first term. The funding is just the first round of investment in legislative races from Gov. Hobbs, with more to follow throughout the 2024 election cycle.

“In the last election, Arizonans sent a clear message that they want the governor and the legislature to work together on solving our state’s toughest challenges like lowering costs, addressing our water crisis, and fully funding education. But Republicans in the legislature have already shown they have no interest in bipartisan cooperation and aren’t serious about solving problems,” said Nicole DeMont, Hobbs’ Chief Political Strategist. “We intend to hold these extremist legislators accountable for being uncompromising obstructionists, and we’re confident their constituents will agree.”

Just yesterday, the Arizona Mirror published a piece highlighting the wildly out-of-touch bills Republicans in the legislature are sending to Gov. Hobbs’ desk. Her ability to veto these bills puts a spotlight on the Republicans’ extreme, do-nothing plans and gives Democrats their best shot at flipping the state legislature in 2024.

In 2022, Gov. Hobbs shattered every fundraising record for Arizona gubernatorial candidates. She raised nearly $40 million for her campaign – and she did it with grassroots support from over 250,000 donations. 94 percent of all campaign contributions were less than $100. As governor, Hobbs intends to use her fundraising prowess to support the agenda Arizonans elected her to deliver.
